PhotoFrustations

I’ve been really bad at taking photos this summer. And by that I mean, I’ve shot a number of good macros, though not enough to justify the cost of that new lens I bought back last fall. I’ve also dragged the camera out to special events and holidays, clicking off more than my equitable share of snapshots of the same, but those occasions have been few and far between. Additionally, I have a ton of excuses and by far I’ve been enjoying the whole videographer thing a little more frequently than I should, so the big dSLR usually gets left home in favour of the pocket sized HD video camera. And there is too that the big camera is always just sitting there: charged, ready, [...]

PhotoShootChallenge #1 – Judging

Well, the first edition of the PhotoShootChallenge resulted in six entries. Now it’s time for the uber-judging to begin. You have one week from this post until the winner is announced and the next theme is revealed. Only one vote per IP — at least that’s what the polling software advertised. Entries in order of submission: 1. Matt 2. Tiffany 3. Chris 4. Brad’s Mother-in-Law 5. Brad 6. Brad’s Dad The Vote: Pick your choice for the best photo based on the theme “THE WORLD FROM ABOVE” — preferably choosing based on merit and quality, not just on the photographer. [poll id="4"] Good luck everyone. And submitters, be sure to have your choice of February’s theme ready in case you win!

Photoshootchallenge – Reminder

Both Matt and my calendar reminded me that readers have just a few days to submit your wonderful submissions for this month’s edition of the photoshootchallenge prior to the judging. So, yeah. Get at it. Or it’s going to be a really easy pick.

PhotoShootChallenge #1 – January

The problem is as follows… If you happened to read my New Year’s Post with any detail, you may have noticed my lamentations on one particular lack of activity: photography. I quote: “Despite the fact that 2008 likely marked one of my most prolific years as a amateur photographer, I judge that I fell behind a little bit this year on my artistic growth with that regard. Sure, I took lots of photos. Sure, I moved up the classification scale with my involvement with the Fringe. And sure, I virtually filled up a hard drive with new photos. But — and this is not about new equipment — I can’t really point to any new learning that was done this past year to improve my [...]

Flow and gush. I don’t know where in the lurkings of the city my plain-drain existenz has been drizzled. It seems to flood by, and then disappear. Karin and I are doing this, this weeknd: Let’s work together to end cancer and keep Terry’s dream alive. All money raised goes to cancer research; please support my participation by clicking on this link and donating: http://www.terryfoxrun.org/ENRunner/default.asp?s=1&RunnerID=11351 No obs, but ya’know. I feel it necessary to endorse and put the call out for the so-little I ask otherwise. My audience of you eight or so. Otherwise, drizzle. We lurchingly find ourselves digging deeper and deeper. Rooting. Etching a place, where we think we might belong. Odd how that happens. And time passes, quick, slow, always. I think [...]
