Admittedly, my efforts in keeping my photo gallery up to date over the last month have been weak at best. Considering the lingering promise of new daily photos and a busy holiday season just passed, the sad reality remained: I just never got around to posting pictures. Well, I never got around to it until last night, that is… The Holidays Two collections await your curious eyes. We split our festive celebrations down the middle, spending the days leading up to Santa’s arrival with Karin’s family, while spending the days leading away from the occasion with mine. Those days all seemed to have blurred together into one big chocolate-coated smudge of fun and food, but the photo collections are discretely split down the middle for [...]
It’s Thursday. Claire is napping. The snow doesn’t seem to be letting up anytime soon. I finished listening to my latest audiobook last night. And, all of this considered, I’m feeling like I should be productive, yet I’m sitting here writing a disjointed blog post. Interesting find this morning: One Two Fiver I’m going to try it when I know I won’t be interrupted by an unexpectedly short nap. But essentially, as I understand it, it is a tool to make use of the “snowflake” method of writing: take a word, expand it into two, now five, and ten… and so on. Done correctly, a story crystallizes. Done wrong, and the entire fabric of reality folds in upon itself and the universe collapses into a… [...]
I’m a sucker for online jigsaw puzzles. In fact, way long ago when I was still in university, I spent some time and energy teaching myself C++ and I coded a (rather crude) bit of software that took a JPG and turned it into a (very blocky) on-screen jigsaw. It sucked. But I’ve since found a few replacements. 1) If you have not tried PuzzleBee on Facebook, it rocks. 2) Before PuzzleBee, I was a regular user of Jigzone 3) And my reason for writing this particular article is to point you towards this little one-off jigsaw app.
One week into 2008 and this is only my second post. Were you one of those who was checking every day to see if I’d resumed the daily posts? Do you miss me yet? Alas, all is not lost. I’ve been writing — as always — just not here, very much. In fact I would almost — though hesitantly — call it a productive weekend with that regard. A few thousand words, in fact. I don’t have much to say other than I wanted to pass along a link to a very cool text editor I found. I found it completely by accident, and the story goes something like this: Ahem… So, I’ve pretty much decided on a Mac. I’m going to switch sometime this [...]
December 5 This time last year I was lamenting on multiple failed acquisitions of a Nintendo Wii. At that point we were a mere couple months into the frenzy of the new console and — where now they are merely a rare and tough to locate object — back then they were items that still held the allure of virtually impossible to find toys. Somehow Karin and I have still failed to fall-in-line and acquire our own — and it looks doubtful as to if we will ever bother — but that just means we need to resort to more mundane (read: cheap) games to keep ourselves entertained. Day 5: Definitely more squirmy than a sack of potatoes. Part One: Click and Play Games from [...]
While those here in Edmonton (and nearby hot-zones) stew in their own juices, are up all night unable to sleep for but drowning in puddles of their own sweat, I’ve added a few interesting links in a new category down the side of this blog. It contains a small handful of interesting photography links, etc. That’s all.
