What posts in June? Oh, thooooose thirty posts in June… again. It seems that for the fourth year in a row I’ve climbed aboard the daily blogging train and continued that monumental, multi-year writing effort to string a topic or idea across the vast reaches of years. Each day a new post on a new topic, but on the same blog-per-day topic as last year, creating another set of Those 30 Posts in June. Today, that post just happens to be:
June 18th // Something You Are Ignoring
It is an exceptional morning, that way. It’s shortly after five in the morning when I started writing this and I’m sitting in the basement with the dog who had a minor freak-out over the carbon monoxide low-battery alarm. I’m compiling some home video clips for a new project while I wait for her to relax.
I’m so behind.
In 2013 –and it helped that I was catching video literally every day of the year– I compiled no less than 58 family movies. What does a family movie consist of, you ask? One of my home movies may consist of any number of things: a few minutes up to (in rare cases) a half an hour of footage, some music, and some snazzy, slick –and time consuming– editing. Most of our home movies are about three to four minutes long, set to a single song we happen to like at the time, and so watchable that we frequently do a home movie afternoon and view a dozen or so in a sitting.
In 2014, I’ve compiled to date four videos. Four.
I’ve got no really good excuse, either. I’ve got the footage for at least five times that many. Were I to turn off the TV in the evening a little more frequently I have lots of free time these days. I just… am ignoring it for whatever reason… except at five in the morning when the dog wakes me up.
