Scrab-bab-ulous

Turns out that Hasbro is suing the dudes who made Scrabulous, and our sturdy friend Facebook has taken the bend-over-and-smile measure of locking down the application from anyone in North America using it. That means if you go to play Scrabble(R) today you’re stuck using the version with the real wooden tiles stashed in your closet. I could never remember to check my game status anyhow (and all my notifications are off because I was getting sick of having that constant flow of random email from Facebook bouncing up in my dashboard notifier all day long) so, I haven’t really played in a while anyhow and can’t say I’ll shed too many tears over its parting. It seems to me, however, that Hasbro has taken [...]

Checking In

I’ve poked my nose back into Facebook now and then to keep tabs on the swarms of craziness that seems to be unrelenting. I still can’t help but feeling excessively unproductive when I’m logged in, though. Yes, it could be argued that I’m keeping a fairly pointless blog and non-Facebook online presence alive — but at the end of the day I’ve got something to show for it. That, and: “Scrabble anyone?” Just kidding. I’ll hand yours back and you know it. (Wink!)

Ten Points to Ponder

1) For those who are confused, this is a photo-per-day effort, and NOT a blog-post-per-day effort. As much as I know you enjoy reading my ramblings on a daily basis, logistically it ain’t gonna happen. Deal. 2) I finished reading JPod this weekend and thought I would catch up on the television version last night. My PVR neglected to record it. I am not impressed. I watched half a season of Extras instead. 3) Someone in my office bought a “Honey Cake” from the vending machine downstairs and we promptly discovered that a 130g snack had six hundred and fifty calories. What did we expect? Really? It was something like a vacuum sealed donut iced with lard. 4) With a host of people coming and [...]

Why I still use my own Gallery…

A couple people asked why I don’t upload more photos to Facebook, rather than making people click over to my gallery site. Here are my reasons, and I don’t think I need to justify any further than that: 1. Users. Facebook needs a password. My gallery is open. As much as I’d find it amusing to manipulate my mother-in-law into getting a Facebook account, it’s just not worth it in the end. 2. Money. I’m paying good money to rent a hosted server. I’m gonna darn well use it. 3. Terms. Keep the following paragraph from the Facebook Terms of Use in mind whenever you upload something to Facebook. (Emphasis mine.) When you post User Content to the Site, you authorize and direct us to [...]
