I may have warned readers that this was coming, but every year in December I try to write at least one blog post per day. It’s not anything official or endorsed or recognized in any way, but each year I pull thirty topics out of my hind-quarters and splot them onto the virtual pages of this website. On the last day of the month, day thirty-one (in case you were suddenly feeling a math headache coming on because of that last sentence) I post my big annual round up, year in review, New Years List of all my anecdotal thoughts and reflections on the year that was and hopes for the year that will be. For some reason these have been getting increasingly pessimistic. I wonder why. But, I digress… anyhow: December. A blog-a-day. No rules. No topics. No focus. No plan. Just me trying to write something to sum up my thoughts as the year comes in for it’s final approach and landing. Stay tuned.
It occurs to me just now, as December lurks just over the horizon, that usually, generally, traditionally (as much as that’s actually a thing on a 15 year old blog) I make a honest effort in the final month of each year to write at least one blog post every day. That might be a serious, long post about something significant. It might be a photo with some text (because you already knew that if you clicked on the pictures they had a post behind them, right?) or they might just be a quick, little aside-style post such as this one you’re reading now. I’m going to promise big and go for gold. And I guess we’ll see how it all pans out, y’know, between finishing the home renovations, getting back into post-marathon running of some sort, scratching out some violin practice and hopefully squeezing in some holiday cheer. No pressure, right?
I do enjoy writing every day, but it is a nice feeling to wake up knowing that I’m not obligated to blog anything today… at all… unless I feel like it.
Once more it is June. Again. And again I embark upon that epic effort of daily blogging, take three, wherein I call upon myself for a kind of rambling focus, picking from a list of daily topics, and with neither planning nor advance writing, strive to pepper this blog with the free-thought, free-writing wonder that is another one of Those 30 Posts in June. Today, that post just happens to be:
June 26th // Something You Want To Forget
This blogging every day thing, as you may have noticed, has crushed up against a very busy month. Short posts. Light topics. Hey… life happens.
But work has been hectic as everyone prepares their last minute work duties before hiking off on summer vacations. And project deadlines are all neatly aligned to wrap prior to this fall’s election. So… yeah: busy.
So, I’m in a bit of a mood. I’m in a mood where I’m thinking –at least for right now– it would be nice to forget at least one day of this blogging every day thing.
Just not today.
