Alas, it is true. I am alive and well. Mostly. My foot still hurts from a long run this weekend, but more about that later.
where have you been?
Apparently I have a following. Odd as this is, it has come to light from the huge number of queries as to my whereabouts for the last little while. Sad truths:
#1 I technically DO have a job, and since my boss got canned about a month ago, I’m feeling the crunch. My workload has shot up enough that I don’t seem to find as many free moments in the day to expunge on my existence.
#2 Unlike some people who are going on free trips to Hawaii, or having surprise parties thrown for them, I am reduced to finding my own entertainment. Usually some that entertainment comes in the form of typing news into my webspace. Unfortunately that also requires a working computer, a quality my home system is taking a much more relaxed attitude towards these days.
#3 Almost a month to the day after being robbed — and I know there is probably no connection — I am feeling a little vulnerable about posting my day to day doings on a public space. Paranoid? You’re not paranoid if there is really is someone out to get you.
stress.fractures can be fun
Karin and I ran the Vancouver Sun Run on this past Sunday. For those of you unfamiliar, the Sun Run is an annual 10km run.slash.walk hosted by the local news rag. This year it drew a few bodies shy of fifty thousand people — a sight which is amazing, massed in the cool spring air spread down the length of Georgia Street — and also a number that is only bested by the Boston Marathon in terms of sheer size.
Aside from groovy t-shirts, our times were posted in the paper (and now here): I raced a 69:53 and placed 19817th while Karin topped that by sprinting ahead of me to the finish and placing 19710th with a total time of 69:43.
A few days later, however, I find myself limping — hobbling — around on a very sore foot. Donna seems to think I have a common running injury, and mumbled something about tarsles and stress fractures and unbearable pain. I’ll cope, but don’t expect any more 10 km runs in the next few days.
my current word count (due, unfortunately to my unreliable monitor) is sitting at just shy of 1000. Sigh.
