We do an annual camping trip with a group of us hauling out to some lake for a weekend and entertaining the kids with toys and swimming and roasted marshmallows. With June now half over and school into it’s final countdown, I can start to think about how I’m spending my July and August… that rare stretch of warm weather that defines our local summer.
June continues! And onward we push through those thirty posts that I’ve been writing every year this month. For the fifth year in a row I’m back to a month of daily blogging: each day a new post on a new topic, but on the same blog-per-day topic as last year, creating another set of Those 30 Posts in June. Today, that post just happens to be about something that I am:
Craving… A Second Piece
Okay, not really. But I know that after she gets home from her (non-birthday related) evening out she’s going to crack open the cake box, cut herself a second slice (because it’s her birthday after all!) and sit here on the couch eating it. In front of me. While I beat myself up over these strict rules I’ve made about eating after a certain time at night and drinking more water. A thick slice of triple layer tuxedo chocolate cake does not fall within those rules.
But it’s her birthday… so I might break them… just this once.
On vacation. But barring that possibility, I’ll take somewhere pretty close to where I am right now.
As April once again draws to a close and May rolls in, we turn our attentions to the brevity of summer in this all-too-often winter-scaped city.
Barbecues, vegetable gardens, freshly mowed grass, kids playing the backyard, bike-rides, running in shorts, and reading in the hammock.
The real question is why I live in a climate zone that only gets (at best) four good months of shorts-weather. But I guess that just makes me a hearty Canadian who can appreciate the rareness of sunshine.
I’m taking a few days off in August to soak it all in. How about you?
At the tone, the time will be 3-14-15 9:26:53… That is all. Carry on.
Spicy and crunchy-dry ginger beef.
Happy New Year! Let 2015 begin!
Finally getting a hoverboard? AmIright?
Run. Work. Blog.
As Karin so often reminds me, I don’t really *need* anything… but I guess I’d like a surprise.
Looking forward to carving pumpkins — or as she spelled it “pupckins” — tonight with Claire.
