Photo of the Day Theme
A dark-toned post-processed photo of nature.
I was so certain that none of my four haskap bushes were producing yet that I’d pretty much given up even looking anymore. But then I was out poking through the roughage with my macro lens pointed into the dark recesses of my flowerbeds and there they were. Barely a handful of the oblong blue berries tucked behind the leaves of the plant.
We went on a bit of a haskap spree about three years ago: four bushes, each the size of a stray twig poking from the soil. I’ve watered and nurtured them, but they take a while to get established, comfortable, mature enough to supply fruit.
This is the first. The very first berry, moments after I discovered it. Like a live action-packed exploration of my garden preserved for eternity.
I added a bit of spot focus and some selective desaturation in the post-processing, but otherwise this is a pretty standard macro in the garden.
