Here we go again… December is Blog-Every-Day Month. No guidelines. No rules. No set topic. No nothing no how. Just an article with at least one complete sentence, every day…
December 17… because lots of scribbles.
I never thought I’d be the person who advocated for voice-to-text dictation, but then suddenly I wrote this damn book and I was staring down the barrel of typing out and editing fifty-thousand (and some) words across what is now about a hundred and ninety pages of my own handwritten scribbles.
See, I started typing and I was getting though about five hundred words per day — or about a page and a half. This seems low, but keep in mind I was doing a second draft revision at the same time.
Then, randomly, I saw some dictation software in action and simultaneously discovered that the Mac has same thing, voice-to-text, built in. And, oh, it’s actually pretty good. Like ninety-five percent good, with just sitting down and reading the text at a moderate rhythm into the general area of the screen. I can just open the scribbles, read, and about as fast as that it’s text on the screen, right in my word processor.
Now, I’m actually starting to get somewhere.
I’m not a Luddite after all.
