Once more it is June. Again. And again I embark upon that epic effort of daily blogging, take three, wherein I call upon myself for a kind of rambling focus, picking from a list of daily topics, and with neither planning nor advance writing, strive to pepper this blog with the free-thought, free-writing wonder that is another one of Those 30 Posts in June. Today, that post just happens to be:
June 5th // Something You Have Eaten
It seems to be the week of getting fed at work. No complaints, no comments, no commentary…. except to simply state that by the time this week is out I’ll have earned myself two lunches and a banquet dinner. Pretty decent considering I usually average about one per month these days.
In my last job, business eating was the norm. If I went a week without attending some kind of boss-breakfast, lunch meeting or large conference with a hotel buffet, I started to wonder if my phone was somehow disconnected or if my email had borked. It seemed to be a here-to-there, talk, listen, eat, listen some more, or talk some more kind of job.
Now I work from a desk most of the day. And my current employer is much more responsible in how bucks get allocated on not-exactly-working perks, like lunches and travel. Both rare. Both as required. And I’m perfectly fine with that: the nature of the job, right? In fact, it has probably contributed to my shrinking waistline!
But this week: a mealtime hat trick, apparently.
