You may have noticed some minor tweaks to the site over the past few days. I’ve had some time in the evenings to add some new features, and this is largely in an effort to move out of my miserly narcissistic phase and embrace something a little more social for a while.
To encourage you all to comment more (because I really do like it when you do) new posts now have a little added nudge. I understand that sometimes it’s tough to write a response to one of my rambling articles. They are often either too focused or too rambling. I get it. So at the bottom of every new post there will be a conversation starter, a few on-topic questions that I think might be interesting to expand upon where my mind was when I wrote my drivel.
You can still post comments and whatever without signing in, but for those who are interested I’ve opened up registration for “subscriber” accounts. I know, it’s another sign-in that you need to remember (and use a unique password because I’m not guaranteeing anything remotely resembling hardened security here) but there are a couple of incentives to sign up. (a) You’ll get access to post in my new forums… if that kind of thing tickles your interest and (b) you can earn ACHIEVEMENTS! Achievements can be earned through site activity or (even more interesting) through special hidden codes that can be unlocked via the sidebar… for example, by logging in and typing in DAYONE into that little box.
All the cool kids are doing it, so I thought I would try it too. That’s right. I’m going to try and make a weekly video blog. Episode one follows… be kind.
The idea behind the vlog is to supplement my other creative efforts and to make something of a teaser for the content I’m creating each week. I figure if folks don’t have time to shuffle through the masses of writing, they may sit through a three minute video of me explaining the highlights. It may evolve. And of course, my continuation with this effort relies on interest, take-up and the continued availability of free time.
