January 12, 21.93 kilometers
It’s been a busy, cold week to be out on the streets of our neighborhood in thin, layered, running gear. The ten kilometer clinic started last Monday with a quick jaunt around the local area. We only ran three clicks, but it fits into the pattern of gradually increasing distances.
Thursday, after a couple inches of snow had fallen over the course of the day, I (un)wisely opted to solo a four click around my standard route. I was slightly under-dressed, ran a bit too fast (consequently tiring too quickly) and zigzagged my course looking for shoveled sidewalks.
Yesterday, a standard Sunday Morning Free Run, eight of us did a fast five kilometers around some nearby streets, happily cleaner than a few days prior. And the temperatures had lifted slightly.
All this effort has brought my virtual odometer up to nearly twenty-two kilometers and left me trudging along the southbound Highway 2 and approaching the airport turnoff. That’s (I think) the RedTail Landing Golf Club off to the left there…
