Very Graphic Stories

From Wednesday, April 9th, 2008, so about 237 days ago, [Popularity: 5%]

I was p’lunkering on my short story efforts the other week and I thought to myself that the text in question would translate very well into a graphic format. I’m note sure; Is there something between “graphic novel” and “comic book?” It’s not a particularly funny story, so “comic” is not appropriate. I’ve been re-honing my cartooning skills in an effort to create some characters for a serialized graphic incarnation of my work. I used to be pretty good, I think. But I’m edging out of practice, and picked up some extra paper to haphazard some doodle time when there are gaps in the schedule. The brain is willing but the hands are rusty. It will come. Practice. Practice. I also ordered a couple of technique books that should be arriving in a day or so with exercises and examples from which to rebuild that foundation. I mean, we’re talking six months down the road on a release date for this little project, but these things take time.

Updates will follow, perhaps with previews.

I’d go with graphic serial, or something like that, if you’re trying to stay away from that horrible term, “comic book”, most of which are neither terribly “comic”, nor really qualify as “books”.

That or just call it manga. :)
