It being Monday morning, I have a few more bits of progress to report on the yard:
- + The garden is growing! Thanks to a few days of nice weather following that cool-snap last week, most everything is popping from the soil and starting to grow. There is little more frustrating than watering dirt, so it’s nice to water seedlings instead.
- + Mom and Dad were up and we picked up both (a) the railing package for our deck (which is now stacked neatly in the garage waiting for my ambition to set in) and (b) the remaining lumber for the fence, including bits and pieces to build a gate.
- + We almost nearly sorta have a gate installed. On Saturday afternoon Dad and I built the frame and hung it on the post. It is officially a swinging frame. I planted the final fence post on Saturday morning after digging one more hole aside the house. It’s not much of a barrier at the moment, but just add a few green boards and some screws and it will be complete.
- + There is a positive fruit situation in the yard: Mr. Raspberry has come back from the winter dormancy in force, and we’re looking not to have just a stalk, but a whole patch by mid-summer. And the little hot-house I built for Strawberry Lane is working wonders. We may be eating berries by mid-June.
Now if only it would rain (like the weatherman continues to promise). I could really use some natural moisture to balance out the (seemingly) endless watering I am required to do. But maybe just wait until I get the gate installed.
