Why? Because I said so. With class wrapping up in a little less than a week, and the holiday season grinding things to a slow crawl as soon as this next few days is over, I’m going to have (hopefully) a little extra time on my hands.
So. Every day, at least ONE post.
Update: Even Sparkle says she’s going to participate. [wink! wink!]
December 1 – The Experiment is Over.
Officially, I reached fifty days without coffee. It wasn’t that I couldn’t bear to go without — though admittedly the aroma of the brew was very tempting at times — it was simply that I’d made my point to myself. As of fifty days, I’m off the bandwagon — or on — or however that saying works. That said, many fewer trips to the ‘bucks, Tim’s, and other purveyors of coffee-esque beverages. Work coffee is free, home-brew is cheap, and occasionally (when I’m out and about and need a treat) there is always a $2 cup o’jo to be enjoyed. What did I learn:
1) I don’t drink enough coffee — have never drank enough — that cutting it out had any noticeable effect — body nor mind — after fifty days of abstaining.
2) An occasional cup of tea from purveyors such as Tim’s, Starbucks, and Steeps are actually just as costly as a cup of coffee — though replicating a pot of java at home is far less easy than replicating a pot of tea.
3) I don’t have so many vices that I should punish myself by denying any of them. And those I have are relatively harmless, enjoyable, and cheap.
4) Sunday mornings just aren’t the same without curling up with the newspaper and a cup of some fresh, flavored brew.
And so it continues…
