Karin and her co-workers conspired to bring us this story:
Calgary’s population is set to hit one million people, two years earlier than expected.
The city released the results of its 2006 city census Monday, showing the highest one-year population burst ever at 35,681 people. The city projects Calgary’s population growth will not slow down for the next five years.
Mayor Dave Bronconnier said Monday the census shows 100 people are moving to Calgary every day.
“Today we are here to declare that given these numbers and prorating them, of course, that tonight, the first baby born after midnight will be declared the one millionth Calgarian.”
He said the child must be born in a Calgary hospital to a Calgary resident.

Hmmm… can someone say: DAMIT Shannon, PUSH!
