Hear no evil, see no evil…

From Sunday, July 9th, 2006, so about 877 days ago, [Popularity: 6%]

I’m sitting on the deck with the laptop, drinking coffee, and checking my email. I need to write a blog post because as I sit here a man drives up to the construction sites behind us. He hops out of his red SUV, loads up a dozen pieces of brand-new lumber from the pile sitting beside the half-built house, and straps them to the top of his vehicle. If I was twenty feet closer I might have been able to read his licence plate number.

I mean, c’mon. Swiping scraps from the garbage piles is one thing. Looting the “new” pile is a whole diferent ball game.

How are those “related posts” related to your post about the guy stealing lumber!? I do not understand…

Yeah.. I thought that was funny too.. It picks up on key words in the post and links them to previous posts with similar words. Since there are not many past posts with “lumber” or “stealing” the best the system could do (probably, I’m guessing) is linking the word “evil”. In this case, those little affectionate jabs and banter from long long ago. Maybe I’ll write a blog post about it. HA!

Wow… I wonder how much money the builders lose to idiots like that. I mean, I’ll freely admit to being tempted by those nice, fresh 2×4’s lying around, but in the end, I have a, uhh… whatsitcalled… oh yeah, *conscience*. Besides, given the amount of stuff the construction guys tend throw away, it’s not like it’s tough to find enough scrap material to fit most needs…

Well, my conscious ends at the garbage pile because (a) it’s garbage, and (b) we’ve seen a couple news reports on the sheer quantity of constrution garbage produced in this province and the fate of said garbage — very disturbing. Loot the garbage pile, yes. As most contractors will admit, it’s cheaper to bring in new stuff than sort the old: thus, too much waste in the name of profit margins.

As much as I’d like to see people turn the tables on Jayman and rip them off for a change, it’s no wonder that house prices continue to rise as fast as they are.

Next time take a picture zooming in from a distance and send it to the builder. This is becoming a major problem and these guys need to be stopped. He probably got $150 -200 worth of wood. When he gets his deck done, he may be back for a BBQ or patio set that may have caught his eye on the last trip. If he did it once he did it twice.

Maybe Jayman will buy me a telephoto lens…?
