IMPORTED FROM OUR TRAVEL BLOG: Brad, Karin (and Ryan) Do Europe ‘06
We spent yesterday evening in the Old City, walking around, Czeching out the shops and churches (from the outside), and sampling some very tasty ice cream. It was mostly too dark to take many photos, but I did get a couple of lit up building pictures that (when I find an elusive USB port) might get posted later.
We’re back into the city again in about 15 minutes. This time, it’s an all day jaunt, Karin and I skipping out on tonight’s optional dinner and winging it on our own. First, we have a guided tour of the castle/palace up on the north west side of the city. Following that, I understand, we walk down into the city again. This time everything (museums and churches) should be open so we can peek inside. Church spires are as frequent as trees here, so there is a lot to see.
It’s very “GDR” here. Lots of old communist buildings surrounding the really old architecture. Even breakfast felt more like an exercise in regimental eating than a leisurely meal.
