winddown from the weekend
…and points of interest:
Also know as, mental states I am enjoying today…
a — being herein fundamentally wowwed by Pirates of the Caribbean which is a swashbucklingly good pirate tale that seemed to top out the boxoffices this weekend. For those who didn’t scavenge the net for oddly mishapen reviews of the flick, I found it a P.O.I that (apparently) Depp modelled his “Sparrow” character on Keith Richards of the Stones. Pirates, rockstars — it’s all the same thing right? We enjoyed the flick with C&P and made a note to add it to the list of possible DVD pickups probably around Christmas time.
b — a little disappointed that the local news didn’t see fit to make a bit more of a fuss over Carolyn’s son, Chris. It seems that placing third in a major international sporting event, and bringing home one of only two Canadian medals is not quite as flashy of a news story as — say — an overhyped local golf tourney made popular by a certain attention-seeking lady pro who in the end didn’t even play.
c — curiously burnt after spending a whole lot of time this weekend bouncing between “ENTER THE MATRIX” on PS2 and another more creatively driven digital project (the details of which are not yet ready to be revealed). Enjoyed “Matrix” to a point, but those blind shoot-to-kill games are not really my style and I got pretty bored of it quickly. The “big kabooms” were not the reason I was drawn to the movies. Otherwise digitally speaking, I did some more constructive crafts that — oddly enough — even Karin seems to think is a neat idea. THAT will be extended to the public within the next couple of months — in a more complete form — but if anyone (like, say, my bro) would like to lend me hand they should ask, and I’ll show them the goods.
d — mildly tempted, after Karin and I wandered around Brentwood mall and contemplated buying a nice aquarium setup — you know, stand, medium sized tank, and a nice lighting system to make everything all pretty, like. We’re definitely going to get one, but it will (even more definitely) have to wait until the wedding stuff drifts into memory. The last thing I need to worry about is fish dying while were on our honeymoon.
