The ne’er.be.trusted.media is reporting that the US government has raised it’s terrorism alert to level orange. It’s odd how that triggers images of klaxons sounding as people walk down the streets of American cities, while a little computer generated voice is projected over loud speakers proclaiming that the end is near, and everyone should hide under a big rock and throw little rocks at their neighbors just in case they are evil-doers.
One word: pity. I can’t do anything else at this point but pity a group of people who can’t see that they have been brainwashed into a state of fear and aggression by their leaders who tell them that they are free, and all the while are slowly striping those freedoms into spiteful oblivion. We were discussing last night whether it would be worthwhile to die for your rights: they can’t take away your guns, but try and board an airplane with nailclippers or a sheet of overly sturdy paper and you’re looking at some serious jail.time. Is that freedom? I would rather risk getting blown to smithereens by a terrorist (a slim — slim — possibility) than submit to a full body cavity search every time I want to interact with society. It’s coming, and we just stand and watch.
The fear of our southward neighbors is both amusing and disturbing all at once. It’s one of those shake.your.head.in.bewilderment type things, while at the same time wondering just how far they will take this whole xenophobia game in bombing the rest of the world. For starters — and I’m just so sick of all this, my mind is jumbled with confusion, and I can’t quite figure out what is wrong with so many people (and apparently there are some) who would blindly follow a hateful and self-righteous political player like GWB — I wish there was something I could say to all the people walking around with blind faith in their next dictator. I mean, I thought genocide was the worst crime you could commit. But I guess if your the States and you’re committing genocide against someone else, then it’s ok, right? I mean, the Iraqis aren’t really people are they? They’re just terrorists, and “evil-doers” — oh — well, I guess that’s what the American government wants you to believe. History IS written by the winners, they tell us.
Fear? I’m afraid of having fear.
