Someone over yonder at slashdot posted an article about how thousands of people in Japan are filing a lawsuit against Disney Japan for using too much red in the DVD release of that quasi-popular bit of anime Spirited Away. I think this is one of those cases where people really need to close their eyes for a moment, take a deep breath, and think — really think — about what they are doing with their lives. I mean, HUH!? Let’s put this into perspective people.
Maybe it’s just because I’ve been so busy lately, but I have not — literally, not — had more than a few minutes in a row to watch television. In fact, looking back at the mid-april tv.turnoff.week thing that I did, I think there has been a steady drop in my television consumption since then. In fact, this week I don’t think I’ve sat down to watch tv for more than half an hour total. Not that this is a bad thing. I’m just saying — it’s tough to get THAT worked up over the quantity of red on a flashing noisy box when there are other things to think about. I mean, get a book. I’ll bet the print version had the right red.balance.

A week after finishing my quote.novel.unquote, I’m sure many of my loyal readers (all seven of you) are wondering whatever happened to that bit of tripe. Fear not, Karin just finished reading it last night, and gave it a solid “good” rating. Hey, there’s nothing wrong with leaving room for improvement. As such, I am in the process of converting it to a pleasant HTML.type format for the web. You can check out the results of this project — keeping in mind that this is just a FIRST DRAFT and needs LOTS of work — at my other website.

I decided to take the digital camera for a walk down to Granville Island this past lunch. As a result, I managed to fill my (small) memory card with a couple dozen photos — including (and some people have already seen this) a panorama of False Creek in the winter fog. I wish I had somewhere to post it, but, such is life.
