cold with pizza.waiting at the.end

I spent the day at a training camp for cub leaders. It was outdoors in the pouring rain and cold. Admittedly, it’s not as cold as it is in Alberta right now, but none of you had to spend nine hours standing in your weather. Highlights of the day included:

1 :: Almost getting lost on the way there, running across the train tracks in the rain, and navigating through a fallen tree that was laying across the path in Burnaby Lake Park. I got my pants all muddy. Why was the stupid tree so dirty?

2 :: Stew, served hot out of bread bowls around a campfire with a bunch of people I didn’t really know.

3 :: Just happening to look over as a big brown squirrel fell two dozen feet to the ground from a wobbly branch (THUMP!), hit the grass, looked stunned, then chattered at us (like it was our fault, buddy!) before scampering weakly back up the same tree. Squirrels are so silly.

4 :: Warm up in front of the Simpsons, back home, after receiving my Pizza from Panago! Hurrah! Pizza!

For those who are keeping score, checking odds, balancing chequebooks, or living their sad pathetic lives vicariously through my writings (hopefully no one I know — or anyone for that matter!) the words count as of this official posting here tonight on this date in front of my very own keyboard and computer and (GET ON WITH IT!) is 19449. A few more and that’s at 40%!
