The TV test

From Friday, May 3rd, 2002, so about 2441 days ago, [Popularity: 1%]

I had a mindless night last night. I set up my mini-movie theater, propping the television on the floor and extending my homespun video projector out in front of it. Dim the lights, lie back on a comfy couch cushion, and turn on the Fox special showing of “Return of the Jedi” for 3 hours of entertainment projected in an eight foot array across my ceiling. Some commercial-time fiddling with the optics and some improvised filters, and I managed to get some better focus and clear up the image: see, Physics 30 did pay off after all. Of course it needs to be quite dark in the room to get a good quality image, but that is a small price to pay for a big screen television floating above your head.

Once again Friday is upon us. Karin has begun the official countdown: what is it now? Seven days until I arrive in the tropical weather of good ol’ Edmonton. And then what? A week until a wedding. A week until Karin moves to Vancouver. A week of holidays and so much to do yet. So much change and I am not ready! Arg.

Last year at this time I was reluctantly preparing to return to my new home after a week of vacation in Florida. I had collected enough souveniers: some shot-glasses from Disney World, a half dozen rolls of exposed 35mm film, and a sunburn that could choke a horse (whatever that means) - and I was preparing to start a new job. Wow. Has it been a year already?

I realize I have not done much writing here lately: I am only writing now because I have just worked through a big project at the office and I am waiting for a fax to come in before I keep at it. The fax is essential. The fax is king.

And there have been no deep philosophical insights from this end of the country lately. I could complain about something - to be sure - but we’re all sick of that aren’t we?
