a disturbing fact

I have noticed a disturbing fact: but first some back-story. In order to type these thrilling dialogues I must pass the digital gates of blogger.com. Posted among it’s orange and black specklings is a short list of recently updated blogs. Simply put, this is an actively changing list of new postings: someone writes something, hits the publish button, the data is sent to their page, and their name shows up on a list for a few seconds proclaiming the new rant. Unfortunately - and this is the distubing part - at the end of my lunch break I sit down and browse the list: and occasionally I click on things that tend to catch my attention. Why is this disturbing? Shortly before one o’clock in my world is roughly 4 pm on the east coast: enough time post-school hours for all the disturbed little kids to rush home from school and tell us about their twisted little worlds. All too often I have clicked through to be transported to the perverse musings of some neurotic fifteen year old typing things that should be privately stowed, not published for the world, or the illiterate rants of a teenager wannabe seeking literacy through the abundant use of four letter explicatives. Until I discover a way to filter the perverse from the merely odd - often a difference marked only by the age of the authors - I think I need more discretion and a cursor hovering above the “back” button.

Top ten reasons this is a wonderful lunch break - of course, in a non-sarcastic sort of way:

10… I was not asked once for money by roaming street folk.

9… Cheap pizza!

8… My ear is feeling better… though not completely.

7… I got a new $5 bill - the interesting hockey people kind…

6… It’s friday and the weekend is closer than ever.

5… Cheap pizza!

4… I’m not in school and I’m not currently writing exams! (unlike unnamed others)

3… It’s sunny and warm…

2… I’m going hiking tomorrow in the mountains!

1… I’m doing sushi tonight.
