It’s election day here in BC. Of course, I don’t get to vote. Some silly rule about needing to live in the province for six months or something… I would complain, but the office closed half an hour early, so it all worked out okay in the end.
And apparently it’s going to be no contest anyhow. Whatever.
The Gravity-Pleasure Switchback Railway
I’m watching this cool show on TLC about roller coasters. For some reason it reminds me of my recent vacation. Now I want to go back!
They were showing this coaster in Universal Islands of Adventure in Florida called the Incredible Hulk — they launch you up the ramp and flip you over seven times. We were on something like that at MGM Studios in Disney World: the Rockin’ Rollercoaster (or something similar) where you were apparently in this limo-car racing through traffic — they launch you into a dark tunnel, from 0 to 60 mph in 2 seconds, flip you twice really fast, and flash a lot of lights.
Most of the rides are pretty tame, but we did that one twice.
Broadway Lunch Showdown
I wandered down Broadway on my lunch break today. If ever you have the opportunity to wander down this street, you might notice that it is never without a show of some type. Today, I think I was witnessing the start of a fight between two motorists who had just been involved in an “incident.” They were hastily turned out and parked just off the road way and one very angry looking guy was yelling and shoving another very angry looking guy — I just kept on walking.
Brown outs abound…
I had my extra alarm clock out just in case, but fortunately I was one of the few people in the area who did not lose their power last night. One of the ladies at work who lives nearby said she lost her electricity for about half an hour during the BIG storm we had. I couldn’t see much, and I wasn’t going out to investigate, but the water was a’falling after dark fell.
My lights were flickering.
My TV crackled once!
I just turned everything off and went to bed a bit early.
