Singing in the rain!
Today I was back to work. This is it: week two. No turning back now!
Puddles and Umbrellas
I understand that Alberta is having something of a drought these days. If I could send some of today’s endless downpour, I would.
I woke up this morning to the light trickle of rain drops on my window. This, of course, was an understatement to the remainder of the day when the skies opened up and you couldn’t go down the street without becoming absolutely soaked.
I also discovered something interesting today while I was racing about on my lunch break. I never would have guessed that Vancouverites go through so many umbrellas! A trash can on every street corner, and in each at least one, often many, broken and discarded umbrellas of different shapes, colors and sizes poking their handles into the air.
Run, run, bike, bike…
High pressure sales aside, I decided to poke my head into the local fitness center and check out the facilities. End result: a free week pass, and I got to do something this evening besides sitting in my ikea chair watching television.
Not that I’m completely that pathetic. I did make it out on my blades yesterday — did the loop around Stanley Park (this time no rain) and had a chance to explore a few other local skate routes. I guess my only saving grace was that I did this all before 10AM so most of the crowds had yet to materialize. The paths were still busy, but I managed to cope.
Theo on the mend!
And yes, despite my recent worries that Theo might be taking a turn for the worse since I brought him home, it would appear that he is at least not getting any worse since my last report. Unfortunately he has yet to sprout any new foliage, but I haven’t given up hope yet.
